Flip 7 Rules
Press Your Luck, Score Big, and Don’t Bust!
Flip 7 is the new and exciting card game created by Eric Olsen where you press your luck, flirt with fate, and try not to scream “Nooo!” when you draw that second matching card. It's quick, easy, and wildly addictive. If you’ve ever wanted to play a game that makes your friends and family cheer and groan in equal measure, this is the game for you.
Objective
Your mission (should you choose to accept it) is simple: Be the first player to score 200 or more points and bask in the glory of victory.
Sounds easy? Ha! Here’s the catch:
- The more valuable the cards, the more of them there are lurking in the deck.
- Draw duplicate numbers, and you bust, scoring zilch for the round.
- But wait—if you “Flip 7” number cards successfully, you’ll score an instant bonus of 15 points. Boom!
What's in the Deck?
This is no ordinary deck of cards. It's a perfectly chaotic blend of numbers, modifiers, and action cards. Here's what you're working with:
Number Cards
These are the bread and butter of your score. Each card has a number value from 0 to 12. The higher the number, the more copies there are in the deck (watch out for those duplicates!). Here’s the breakdown:
- 12 has 12 copies.
- 11 has 11 copies.
- 10 has 10 copies...
- ...and so on, down to 0, which has just one copy.
Pro Tip: The 0 card is worth nothing but it can also help you earn big points...
Action Cards
Action cards are here to spice things up—and sometimes ruin your plans in the most spectacularly disappointing way.
- Freeze!
- If you get this, pass it to another player (or keep it for yourself if you're feeling wild.)
- The unlucky target must bank their points and exit the round immediately. No more hits for them!
- Flip Three!
- Another card that can be kept or passed on to another player.
- The chosen player must draw the next three cards in a row.
- If they successfully Flip 7 during this process, good for them. Otherwise, they deal with whatever chaos they pull—including busting if they draw a duplicate number.
- Second Chance
- This is your safety net. If you draw a duplicate number card, you can discard it using the Second Chance card instead of busting.
- Only one Second Chance card is allowed per player in each round, so don’t get greedy!
Modifier Cards
Modifier cards enhance your score—because sometimes you deserve a little extra, ya know?
- +2, +4, +6, +8, and +10 Cards
- These cards add their value to the total of your number cards.
- x2 Card
- This doubles the value of all your Number cards.
- No, it does NOT double your +2, +4, +6, +8, and +10 Modifier cards, but hey, we can’t have everything.
How to Play
- Shuffle the deck and let fate (or rock-paper-scissors) decide the first Dealer.
- The Dealer deals one card to each player, face-up.
- If it’s an Action card, pause to resolve its effects before continuing.
- On your turn, decide to:
- “Hit”: Get dealt another card. Hope for the best.
- “Stay”: Stop drawing cards, bank your points, and cross your fingers the other players bust.
- The round continues until all players have either busted or chosen to stay.
Important Rule: Action and Modifier cards can’t make you bust. Only duplicates of Number cards can do that.
Scoring
At the end of the round, here’s how you tally up your points:- Add up the value of your Number cards.
- Double it if you’ve got the x2 multiplier card.
- Add any points from Modifier cards.
- If you flipped 7 Number cards, throw in a glorious 15-point bonus.
Pro Tip: Make scoring a breeze by using the Flip 7 Scoreboard! Easily track everyone’s totals without fumbling for a calculator or arguing over the math. It’s quick, easy, and lets you focus on the fun (and trash talk).
When a player’s total score hits 200 points, the game ends. The player with the highest score wins!

Why Flip 7 is the Best Game Ever
- Short and Sweet: Each round takes just a few minutes, and you can play a full game in under 20 minutes.
- Luck Meets Strategy: Every decision is a gamble. Push your luck too far, and you might bust. Play too cautiously, and you could fall behind.
- Hilariously Chaotic: Action cards like Freeze and Flip Three make sure no one’s safe from the fun—or the drama.
- Great for Any Group: It’s perfect for family game nights, casual parties, or intense face-offs with your competitive friends.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I bust on an Action or Modifier card?
A: Nope! Only Number cards can bust you. Action and Modifier cards are your friends… most of the time.
Q: What happens if I draw a Second Chance card when I already have one?
A: Share the love! Pass it to another active player. If there’s no one left to give it to, discard it.
Q: What if the deck runs out mid-round?
A: Shuffle the discards to form a new deck. Don’t touch the cards in front of the players, even if someone’s busted.
Q: What is the highest score a player can get in a single Flip 7 round?
A: 151 points. Here's how:
- The highest possible Number cards to flip are 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, and 6, which add up to 63 points
- x2 Multiplier doubles the Number card score (63 × 2 = 126)
- +10 Modifier adds 10 points (126 + 10 = 136)
- Flip 7 Bonus (136 + 15 = 151 total points)
This assumes perfect luck in drawing cards and no sabotaging from opponents. Good luck trying to pull this off in an actual game — you’ll need it!
